Beautiful season finale

The last Track Meeting from 2013 was again a wonderful night with a lot of good results. The evening started with handing out our famous start number 3000 resembling 3000th registration for the season. This number, together with a voucher from our sponsor Runnersworld, was handed over to Luc Orbons from Phoenix. Never in the history of the Track Meetings we had more than 3000 registrations in one season. With 501 registrations on the final evening we ended this season on 3375 registrations! To celebrate this we handed over free icecreams to participants and volunteers all evening. We also had a prize draw based on start numbers for which our sponsors BibFix and Runnersworld provided several prizes for which we thank them very much.

The first event of the evening was the 3000m steeple. Gijs Jacobs won this event in 9:15.55 resulting in a 4th place on our Track Meetings best ever list. The 100m was dominated by U-Track's Shaquille Brahm. He ran exactly the same time with which he is already in our list: 11.24. Meanwhile the high jump bar raised and raised. In the end we had two contestants passing the prestigious 1.95 m. This brought Douwe Amels, who will participate in the World Championships decathlon, in our Track Meetings top ten list.

At the end of the evening Stan Niesten finished first at the 5000m. He stopped the time after 14:55.85. In the long jump competition Shaquille Brahm showed off as well with 6.47 meters as his best result.

During the evening pictures were taken and put on the internet by Mark Leeman and Michel Reij.

The organization would like to thank all participants that come to Utrecht, time after time, from all over the country (and abroad) for a wonderful season. Only 2 years ago a Track Meeting with 540 registrations was an exception, whilst in 2013 we would consider this a 'below-average' evening. Growth has a lot of good aspect but also comes with some challenges. We are thinking about different ways to accommodate this grow better. We would also like to thank our great group of volunteers which are available during every Track Meeting. We realy need them to make this possible and we owe them many thanks.
