During our preparations for the 2014 season we have been contacted by Heleen Moes, talentcoach/-scout Dutch Parathletics Team at the Athletics Federation. Supported by the Johan Cruyff Foundation, Heleen has created a talent program for the champions of the future with a disability. Besides additional training facilities, the athletes need the possibility to compete, as well in order to measure their performances and opportunities to qualify for European and World Championships. The talented group just below the top level hardly had any opportunities but this is going to change. In 2014 all Runnersworld Track Meetings are IPC endorsed. This means all results are acknowledged by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and will be posted on the world ranking.
For most athletes not much will change during the Runnersworld Track Meetings. We have always had some athletes with a disability during our competitions and they smoothly blended in the regular program and this will not change. From this year onwards, there will be a few series for wheelers and occasionally some athletes will need extra facilities. Chances are you will be competing against a future Paralympics champion. More information on the IPC status and how to participate can be found in the 'information' section. The organization committee of the Runnersworld Track Meetings is proud to have been approached by the Atletiekunie and to be able offer these facilities. We are looking forward to a long-term successful cooperation.
